Galaxy Z TriFold Lacks a Key Feature Found in Z Flip and Z Fold Models

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold smartphones can be partially folded and placed on a surface in such a way that the upper part of the display faces you, allowing easy hands-free use. Enhancing this experience is Flex Mode, which makes using foldable phones more convenient and enjoyable. When these devices are partially folded, supported apps automatically adjust their interface—showing content on the top half and controls on the bottom half.

For example, if you are watching a YouTube video and slightly fold the phone, Flex Mode will display the video on the upper section of the screen while showing the title, like/dislike buttons, comments, and other options on the lower section. This feature makes excellent use of the foldable display and is considered one of the most impressive capabilities of Samsung’s foldable phones. Unfortunately, Samsung’s first tri-fold phone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, does not offer this feature.

No Flex Mode Support in Galaxy Z TriFold

Although the Galaxy Z TriFold can be folded in such a way that one-third of the display tilts toward you when placed on a surface, the phone does not support Flex Mode (as noted by SuperSaf). This means that in such a position, no app will automatically adjust its UI according to the angle of the display.

This may be disappointing for many Galaxy Z TriFold users. Additionally, due to the unusual way the phone looks when folded at this angle (as seen in the referenced video), Samsung may have intentionally decided not to include this feature.
