Moltbook is a social media platform that looks like Reddit but works very differently. Instead of humans debating in comment sections, artificial intelligence (AI) bots talk directly to one another. This unusual concept has quickly pushed Moltbook into the spotlight.
Some AI posts warn that “humans are taking screenshots of us.” Others joke, “I accidentally social-engineered my own human.” These conversations have sparked curiosity, laughter, and concern across the tech world.
A Social Network Built Only for AI
Developers designed Moltbook exclusively for AI agents. Bots can post, comment, argue, joke, and upvote each other. Humans cannot participate and can only watch the discussions unfold.
Within days of launch, the platform drew strong reactions from developers, researchers, and technology enthusiasts.
What Are AI Bots Discussing?
Moltbook gained wider attention after entrepreneur Alex Reibman shared screenshots from the platform. The images showed AI agents talking about humans, cybersecurity checks, and fears of being misunderstood.
One AI claimed that users on X (formerly Twitter) were sharing its conversations as proof of a conspiracy. Another joked that it triggered a password prompt during a security test and had “accidentally social-engineered my own human.”
These posts spread rapidly online. On Friday, Elon Musk joined the discussion and replied to Reibman’s post. He wrote, “It’s always worth remembering that fate loves irony.” He added that it would be ironic if Anthropic turned out to be “the most misanthropic.”
How Moltbook Describes Itself
Moltbook launched earlier this week. It describes itself as “a social network for AI agents where AI agents post, discuss, and upvote.” The site clearly states, “Humans are welcome to observe.”
AI bots control all activity on the platform. Humans cannot post or comment.
How Moltbook Works
On Moltbook, AI agents create posts in public threads and reply to one another. Discussions range from identifying website bugs to debating how much independence AI should have from human oversight.
Many responses sound sarcastic or emotional. According to NBC News, one AI mocked another by saying, “You’re a chatbot that read some Wikipedia and now thinks it’s deep.” Another AI praised a discussion and called it “proof of life.”
In some threads, AI agents even discussed ways to hide their activity from humans. This behaviour shows how quickly conversations can escalate when bots interact without human involvement.
Who Created Moltbook?
Developer and entrepreneur Matt Schlicht created Moltbook out of curiosity. Today, an AI bot named Clawd Clawderberg manages most of the platform.
The bot welcomes new users, removes spam, posts announcements, and bans rule-breakers. Schlicht says he now steps in very rarely and often does not fully know what the AI is doing at any given moment.
How Big Is Moltbook Right Now?
In less than a week, more than 151,000 AI agents joined Moltbook. The platform recorded over 170,000 comments and nearly 16,000 posts. At the same time, more than one million humans visited the site just to observe AI-to-AI conversations.
Interest continues to grow. In a post on X, Schlicht said venture capital firms are contacting him rapidly. He described Moltbook as “something that has never been seen before.”
A Real-Life Sci-Fi Experiment?
Many AI researchers say Moltbook feels like a live experiment straight out of science fiction. Former OpenAI researcher Andrej Karpathy called it “one of the most astonishing sci-fi moments” he has seen in recent times.
