Breaking: Samsung Releases One UI 8.5 Beta Update for the Galaxy S25 Series

Samsung has officially started rolling out the One UI 8.5 public beta. The first update is now available for Galaxy S25 series users. The beta rollout is currently live in South Korea, the United States, the UK, Germany, India, and Poland.

Tipster Max Jambor and SamMobile were the first to report the rollout, and we can now confirm that the update is indeed reaching users.

This release comes just a few days after a major changelog leak revealed all the new features arriving with One UI 8.5. Most of the leaked details have turned out to be accurate, although the official changelog does not mention the Bixby-related improvements seen earlier.

One UI 8.5 introduces a refreshed visual design, enhanced AI capabilities, improved device connectivity, and more personalization options. Since the update is based on Android 16 QPR2, Galaxy devices will also receive several new Android features through this version.

What’s New in One UI 8.5?

Samsung has added several new features in this update, including:

  • New Galaxy AI tools with advanced image-generation features
    • Better cross-device connectivity, such as storage sharing between Samsung devices and faster Smart View
    • Improved Auracast support with a new Audio Broadcast menu in Settings
    • Battery and performance enhancements, along with a redesigned power management layout
    • More customization options for the Quick Panel, lock screen, widgets, and icons
    • Stronger privacy and security features, including improved anti-theft functionality
    • Accessibility upgrades, such as expanded hearing device support and new control options

How to Install the One UI 8.5 Beta

You can participate in the beta program through the Samsung Members app:

  1. Download and open the Samsung Members app
  2. Log in with your Samsung account
  3. Find the “One UI Beta Program” banner on the homepage and tap it
  4. Complete the registration, then go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install to get the beta

Note: Beta software may contain bugs and performance issues, so avoid installing it on your primary device.

Availability and Supported Devices

For now, the One UI 8.5 beta is available only for the Galaxy S25 series. In the first phase, the beta rollout covers:

  • South Korea
    • United States
    • United Kingdom
    • Germany
    • India
    • Poland

Samsung is expected to expand availability to additional regions soon.

The stable version of One UI 8.5 is likely to debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series. After that, the update will be released to the Galaxy S25 lineup and other eligible Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Since One UI 8.5 is based on Android 16, all devices that support One UI 8 should also qualify for the One UI 8.5 stable update.
