Samsung has officially confirmed a new Perplexity voice command called “Hey Plex.” The feature will arrive on its upcoming flagship phones, which most reports link to the Galaxy S26 series. The company says the update strengthens its goal of building an open and integrated AI ecosystem.
The addition puts Perplexity alongside other assistants already present on Galaxy devices. Android phones support “Hey Google,” and Samsung offers “Hey Bixby” as an optional assistant. Now users will activate three different assistants on the same device using separate hotwords.
Samsung also plans to preload the Perplexity assistant on the new flagship phones. Users therefore will not need to download it separately from the app store.
Integration With Samsung Apps
Perplexity will work directly with Samsung’s built-in apps. These include Samsung Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder and Calendar. The assistant will also support some third-party apps, although Samsung has not revealed their names yet.
Through system-level integration, Samsung aims to simplify multi-step tasks. Users can complete actions across multiple apps without manually switching between them. The assistant will help move from one task to another smoothly.
Samsung calls this approach a rich and open multi-agent ecosystem inside Galaxy AI. Company data shows nearly 80 percent of users now use more than two AI assistants. This trend highlights growing demand for flexibility instead of relying on a single assistant.
Company Statement and Launch Timing
Won-Joon Choi, president and COO of Samsung’s Mobile Experience business, said the update gives users more control over daily tasks. He explained that Galaxy AI will act as an orchestrator and combine multiple AI services into one unified experience.
Samsung announced the feature only days before its Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for February 25.
The company previously worked with Perplexity to bring its AI search technology to Samsung televisions. Now Samsung is extending that partnership to flagship smartphones. More details about supported devices and features should arrive soon.
