Jungkook Opens Up About His First Betrayal and Its Lasting Impact

Relationships are never easy, and in the world of showbiz, they become even more complex, filled with competition, suspicion, and pretense. This is why BTS is widely regarded as a moral example in the entertainment industry—maintaining kindness, honesty, and humility for over a decade in such a competitive environment is an extraordinary achievement.

However, having a good heart—whether as a group or individually—does not guarantee that everyone around them shares the same values. BTS members have experienced multiple situations where their trust and generosity were exploited.

Notable examples include HYBE’s Performance Director and longtime BTS dance instructor, Lee Byung Eun, who was arrested for exploiting BTS’s reputation for personal gain over ten years. Additionally, in 2022, Jimin lent 100 million won to comedian Lee Jin Ho, which was used for online gambling, while the borrower had no means or intention to repay it.

Jungkook also revealed that he has personally experienced betrayal. The youngest BTS member shared that his first experience of being betrayed left him emotionally shaken. In an interview, he said, “I was warmhearted and trusting as a child, and I still am.” He explained that he naturally gives love and care to those who deserve it.

However, his innocence and generosity made him vulnerable. Someone very close to him broke his trust, causing him heartbreak. While he did not share specific details, he revealed that the experience deeply affected him mentally and taught him to be more cautious in relationships.

Jungkook said, “I give my all to those I love. My groupmates know this, and their support reassures me. But I also need to trust my own strength and not rely on them entirely.”

Fans were moved by Jungkook’s honesty and empathized with his pain. Despite the setback, he has maintained his sincerity and open-hearted nature, learning to recognize those who truly value him and to continue living and approaching relationships with an open heart.
