In a candid interview, BTS’s Jin opened up about friendship and why some close relationships come to an end. Reflecting on how meaningful connections evolve as we grow older, Jin shared his perspective on nurturing friendships versus forming new ones.
The interviewer asked whether Jin ever wished he had more friends beyond BTS members and his childhood friends. Jin explained that he is content with the close relationships he already has. “I think I already have enough close friends,” he said. “I’m lucky to have BTS members and a few friends I meet regularly. Occasionally, I meet others, but they live far away or have busy lives. I don’t actively seek more friends because I want to devote enough time and attention to the ones I already know well.”
He revealed that he has fewer than ten celebrity friends, reflecting his selective approach to relationships. Starting training at 19 and preparing for his debut left little time to build a large social circle. However, Jin emphasized that having fewer friends doesn’t mean he struggles socially; rather, he prioritizes quality over quantity.
Jin also shared when he chooses to end a friendship: “If someone says hurtful things or uses degrading expressions, I might tolerate it once or twice, but after that, it’s difficult. I prefer not to continue such relationships.” He added that holding onto anger is unnecessary, and moving on from negative situations is better for mental peace.
In the entertainment industry, genuine friendships are rare, and Jin understands the importance of avoiding toxic relationships. His emotional maturity offers fans valuable advice: choose friends wisely and walk away when a relationship no longer adds value.
