BTS has been active for over a decade now, with the perfect seven-member lineup remaining intact. Fans always admire the close and positive bond between the members, but few know that it took years of effort, patience, and learning to truly understand and get along with one another.
Alongside working hard as a team and overcoming challenges to achieve success, the members also went through their share of arguments—especially during their teenage years, when egos were high and experience living together was limited.
Jungkook and Jimin are a prime example. The two once had a huge argument, but years later, looking back, they laugh and realize how childish their behavior was. Yet, that fight taught them valuable lessons about friendship and understanding.
The story was first shared by Jungkook during a Weverse live broadcast. While fans had previously heard vague mentions of a practice-room fight, that day they got the full, heartfelt details.
Jungkook recalled his younger, more childish self, both in appearance and personality. He shared that one day, his behavior was so immature that even the kind-hearted J-Hope lost his temper.
He said:
“When we were trainees, I felt like I hadn’t really gone through puberty yet! I was young, and the way I spoke… honestly, I don’t remember clearly, but it was so wrong that Hobi hyung got mad, and the hyungs talked to me about my tone.”
When the older members tried to guide him without success, Jimin took Jungkook aside to talk privately, hoping to help him improve. But Jungkook’s stubborn pride at the time made it impossible for him to listen, leaving Jimin frustrated. As ARMY knows, a loud argument followed.
Jungkook recalled:
“Jimin hyung pulled me aside to talk. Because I thought I was right in some parts, Jimin hyung said, ‘I’m not gonna care for you anymore,’ and left! I left too. I wandered around the dorm area, got lost, and was crying because it felt unfair. I thought about calling him, then stopped… Eventually, I called, and he asked, ‘Where are you? What’s going on?’ I said, ‘I don’t know,’ and he told me to take a taxi. It started raining, and when I finally got back, he was waiting outside. We went to the rooftop, talked, apologized, and hugged. My eyes were so swollen the next day!”
Later, Jimin shared his perspective during another live broadcast:
“I saw Jungkook’s live! Let me tell you. I was young too, maybe acting a little like a kkondae (someone who thinks they’re always right). Taehyung, Jungkook, and I were together, and I told him he needed to be better with the hyungs. I got angry, said some harsh words, and left. Jungkook was sad, called multiple times, and eventually, in the rain, we went to the rooftop to talk. He said sorry, and my eyes were swollen from crying the next day. This was about 8 years ago; I was 21. Later, we reflected on it, and honestly, it brought us closer. Fighting helped us forgive and understand each other better.”

Other BTS members, including RM and Jin, said the story felt like a scene from a Korean drama. The rest joked that it was almost like a couple in love arguing, making everyone—including fans—laugh.
In the end, these fights were part of their growth. As Jimin reflected, what mattered most was that the argument helped them realize the value of their friendship and strengthened their bond through understanding, patience, and empathy.
