Huawei launched the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 at an event in Madrid. The company also introduced the Huawei Mate 80 Pro and MatePad Mini at the same event. With this release, Huawei returns to the professional running watch category after five years.
The smartwatch uses a titanium body. It also adds a 3D floating antenna for better GPS accuracy. In addition, Huawei includes dedicated marathon training tools. The company claims the watch can last up to 14 days on a single charge. Both professional and casual runners can track performance easily.
Price and Availability
Huawei priced the Watch GT Runner 2 at GBP 350 (about Rs. 42,900) in the UK. Buyers can purchase it through the official Huawei UK website. The watch comes in Dawn Orange, Dusk Blue, and Midnight Black colours.
However, Huawei has not confirmed global availability yet. The company will likely launch it in more regions soon.
Display and Build Quality
The watch features a 1.32-inch AMOLED display. It offers a 466×466 resolution and up to 3,000 nits brightness. Huawei protects the screen with second-generation Kunlun Glass. Therefore, the display should resist scratches and damage better.
Huawei builds the case, bezel, crown, and buttons with titanium alloy. The watch measures 43.5×43.5×10.7mm and weighs about 34.5g without the strap. Additionally, the AirDry woven strap improves airflow by 25%. Users also get a fluoroelastomer strap option.
Intelligent Marathon Mode and Running Tools
Huawei developed the Intelligent Marathon Mode with the DSM-Firmenich Running Team. The feature provides structured training plans and race preparation guidance. Moreover, runners receive real-time performance insights.
During workouts, users can check pace and predicted finish time. They can also compare gaps to their target. The watch includes a digital pacer and fuelling reminders.
Furthermore, it tracks advanced metrics. These include lactate threshold, running power, and Running Ability Index. After workouts, the Huawei Health app shows recovery data and running form analysis.
Sports Modes and Health Tracking
The smartwatch supports more than 100 sports modes. For example, it tracks trail running, swimming, cycling, and golf. In selected markets, golfers can access over 17,000 courses. It also supports freediving up to 40 metres.
Huawei adds 5 ATM and IP69 protection. Therefore, the watch resists both water and dust.
The watch also offers health monitoring features. These include ECG monitoring, heart-rate variability tracking, and blood oxygen measurement. Additionally, it tracks sleep patterns with breathing awareness. Users can also monitor stress levels.
GPS and Connectivity Features
Huawei introduces a new 3D floating antenna architecture. According to the company, it improves positioning accuracy by 20%. The watch supports dual-band L1+L5 GPS. It also connects to multiple satellite systems such as GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, and NavIC.
Even in tunnels or dense cities, the watch continues route tracking. Therefore, runners still get accurate distance data.
The smartwatch also supports Bluetooth calling and NFC payments. Users can play music directly from the watch and scan QR codes as well.
Battery Life
Huawei includes wireless charging support. Under light use, the watch can last up to 14 days. Under typical use, it lasts around 7 days. Meanwhile, outdoor workout mode with precise tracking offers up to 32 hours of battery life.
