Mobile App Gets New Customisation Features
Google has released a new update for its AI-powered research and note-taking platform, NotebookLM. With this update, the company has expanded customisation options on the mobile app. Earlier, these features were available only on the web. Now, users can personalise infographics and slide decks directly on their smartphones.
Background of the Feature Rollout
In November 2025, the NotebookLM team introduced several major updates in a short time. These updates included tools for creating infographics and presentation decks. The tools mainly target students and professionals. They use Google’s AI models to convert notes into visual content. Until now, users edited this content only on the web. However, the latest update removes that limitation.
How Infographic and Slide Deck Editing Works on Mobile
In a post shared on X, Google announced the change for mobile users. Now, users see a pencil icon next to the Infographics and Slide Deck options. When users tap the icon, a new customisation interface opens.
Through this interface, users can change the style and layout of the generated content. However, the core information remains the same. The app pulls this data directly from the notebook sources. As a result, users can improve presentation quality without altering the content.
Two Slide Deck Formats Available
NotebookLM now offers two slide deck formats. Each option serves a different purpose.
- Detailed Deck
This format includes full text and detailed explanations. It works well for emails and personal reading. - Presenter Slides
This option focuses on visuals and key talking points. It suits classroom lessons and office presentations.
In addition, users can adjust slide length. They can also add custom requests using the prompt box at the bottom of the screen.
Video Overview Feature Expanded
Meanwhile, the NotebookLM team also improved the video overview feature. Last week, Google launched full-screen video overviews on the mobile app. With this feature, users can create video presentations directly on their phones. The videos include voiceovers and visual slides based on the selected sources.
Overall Impact of the Update
Overall, these updates make NotebookLM more powerful and flexible. The app now gives users greater control on mobile devices. As a result, students and professionals can turn research notes into polished presentation content more easily.
