Google is enhancing its AI-powered shopping tools by introducing a virtual try-on feature for footwear. Earlier this year, Google launched experimental shopping tools through Google Labs, giving users a glimpse of how artificial intelligence could simplify online retail. By July, the feature became widely available, allowing shoppers to virtually try on clothing and accessories. Now, users can preview shoes from the comfort of their own homes.

Virtual Shoe Try-On with Google AI

In a post on its official blog The Keyword, Google announced that shoppers can now virtually try on their favorite shoes. The process is simple: users upload a full-length photo, and Google’s AI system generates a realistic image of them wearing the selected shoes.

For those who have previously used Google’s “Try It On” apparel feature, the shoe option works in the same way. Shoppers can click on any shoe listing in Google Search, press the Try It On button, and upload their photo. Within seconds, the AI generates a digital preview, which can be saved or shared with friends for feedback.

 

 

Expansion of AI Fashion Tools

This update comes two months after Google’s AI-driven virtual clothing try-on feature was launched. That feature allowed users to see how garments looked on different body types. With this new update, Google now lets users visualize both clothing and footwear on their own photos, making online shopping more personalized and immersive.

Doppl: A New Immersive Shopping Experience

In June, Google also launched an experimental app called Doppl. Built on the same generative AI technology, Doppl helps users visualize outfits in real time. It also creates AI-generated videos that demonstrate how clothes fit and move. By adding shoes to its virtual try-on tool, Google has made the shopping experience even more seamless, personal, and stylish.
