Canon has launched a Limited-Edition version of the PowerShot G7 X III to celebrate 30 years of the PowerShot camera lineup. The company introduced its first PowerShot camera in 1996 with a 0.5-megapixel sensor. That early model played an important role in shaping digital photography.
To mark the milestone, Canon has refreshed the G7 X III with exclusive design elements. However, the internal hardware remains the same as the model launched nearly seven years ago.
New Design Highlights the Anniversary
The Limited-Edition PowerShot G7 X III arrives in a new graphite colour finish. In addition, it features a textured, knurled front control ring. Canon says this design choice reflects a sense of premium quality and luxury.
Moreover, the camera includes a special 30th-anniversary logo on the body. As a result, the device gains added appeal among collectors and long-time PowerShot fans.
A Camera Built for Vloggers
Canon originally designed the PowerShot G7 X III with vloggers in mind. For this reason, it supports vertical video recording for social media platforms.
The camera packs a 20.1-megapixel sensor, a 3-inch flip-up touchscreen, and a 24–100mm f/1.8–2.8 zoom lens. Additionally, it offers a dedicated microphone input for better audio quality.
It records 4K video at 30fps without crop and 1080p video at up to 120fps. At launch, one standout feature was direct YouTube live streaming over Wi-Fi. While this was innovative at the time, it has since become a common feature.
Canon originally priced the camera at $749.
Rising Demand and Updated Pricing
Over time, supply shortages limited availability of the G7 X III. Meanwhile, influencers helped push demand higher. As a result, used units began selling above retail prices.
In response, Canon increased production in August 2025. A few months later, the camera returned to stores with a revised price of $880.
Limited Edition Price and Availability
The Limited-Edition PowerShot G7 X III comes at a much higher price of $1,299. However, the package includes extras such as a limited-edition Peak Design cuff wrist strap and a 32GB SD card.
Canon expects shipping to begin in April 2026.
New RF-Mount Lenses Announced
Alongside the anniversary camera, Canon also introduced two new RF-mount full-frame lenses.
First, the company revealed the RF 14mm f/1.4 L VCM ultra-wide prime lens. Priced at $2,599, it promises bright performance and high optical quality.
Second, Canon unveiled the RF 7–14mm f/2.8–3.5 L Fisheye STM zoom lens. It costs $1,899 and delivers an extreme 190-degree field of view at its widest setting.
