Apple Explores AI Wearables Beyond the iPhone

Apple is preparing a new range of AI-powered hardware devices. Reports say the Cupertino-based company is actively building several artificial intelligence (AI) products. These include smart glasses, camera-equipped AirPods, and a wearable pendant.

The company is testing new device formats beyond the iPhone and Vision Pro. Apple has not officially announced the projects yet. However, engineers are already testing early prototypes inside the company.

Smart Glasses May Arrive First

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman says lightweight smart glasses could lead Apple’s AI lineup. Apple designed these glasses to support everyday iPhone tasks. In the long run, they could replace some phone functions.

Unlike the expensive Vision Pro headset built mainly for developers, Apple aims these glasses at regular consumers.

Apple internally calls the project “N50.” The glasses will not work alone. Instead, they will wirelessly connect to an iPhone. The phone will handle heavy computing tasks, while the glasses will capture data and perform lighter actions.

The prototypes already include cameras and microphones. They collect environmental information and send it to Apple’s AI systems. This enables object recognition, contextual suggestions, and real-time assistance.

Apple Also Developing Camera AirPods

Apple is also developing AirPods with outward-facing cameras. These earbuds will scan the user’s surroundings and send visual data to Apple’s AI models.

As a result, the system can improve spatial awareness and context-based interactions. Users may control features using gestures. Siri may also respond more intelligently based on surroundings.

Earlier leaks suggested future AirPods Pro could “see” the environment. Reports also indicate Apple may keep the price close to the current model.

AI Pendant Could Act as a Digital Companion

Apple is also testing a wearable AI pendant. Users would wear the device around the neck. It would include cameras and sensors that constantly analyze the environment.

The pendant would use both on-device processing and cloud AI. Therefore, it could provide real-time information, reminders, and assistance. Over time, it may function like a personal digital companion.

Part of Apple’s Long-Term Strategy

Apple wants to reduce dependence on the iPhone. To achieve this, the company plans to introduce entirely new AI device categories.

The company has not confirmed any product yet. Still, development continues internally. More details will likely appear in the coming years.
