Google Photos Launches New AI Feature for Personalized Memes

Google has started rolling out a new artificial intelligence feature in Google Photos. This update allows users to create personalized memes using their own photos. The feature is called Me Meme and focuses on fun, shareable content.

The tool uses generative AI to place a user’s image into popular meme templates. It adds funny and relatable captions, making meme creation quick and simple.

Me Meme Expands Google Photos’ AI Tools

Google first revealed the Me Meme feature in October 2025. After nearly three months, the rollout has now begun. The feature adds to Google Photos’ existing AI tools such as Create with AI, Photo to Video, Remix, and Collage.

A Google community manager shared details about the update on an official support page. According to Google, Me Meme supports its goal of improving creative options inside the Photos app. At the moment, the feature is available only in the United States.

How the Me Meme Feature Works

Users start by selecting a portrait or personal photo in Google Photos. They then tap the Create or Meme option. After that, they choose a meme template.

Google provides several ready-made meme styles. Users can also upload their own templates if they prefer. Captions can be edited to improve the joke or message.

Once selected, the AI places text above and below the image. It then generates a classic social-media-style meme. Google says the templates are designed to be fun, easy to share, and respectful of traditional meme formats.

Privacy and User Control

Google has stated that Me Meme is fully optional. The feature works only on photos that users select themselves. Google does not create memes automatically.

All AI processing stays within the Google Photos app. Memes are shared or saved only when the user chooses to do so. This gives users full control over their content.

Storage Information

Google has not yet confirmed whether AI-generated memes will count toward storage limits. However, current Google Photos policies suggest that AI-created images are usually treated as new files.

Conclusion

With Me Meme, Google Photos continues to blend AI creativity with everyday photo management. The feature offers a simple and enjoyable way to personalize images. Users can now turn ordinary photos into memes and share them with ease.
