Apple on Thursday announced the winners of the App Store Awards 2025, honouring 17 outstanding apps and games selected for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. These apps and games were chosen based on their exceptional design, innovation, user experience, and cultural impact. The AI-powered planner Tiimo was named iPhone App of the Year, while Pokémon TCG Pocket won iPhone Game of the Year. Other notable winners included HBO Max, Strava, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, and StoryGraph.
Key Highlights of the App Store Awards 2025
Tiimo outperformed contenders like BandLab and the fitness app LADDER to win the title. The app was also a finalist at the Apple Design Awards 2024. Pokémon TCG Pocket surpassed Capybara Go! and Thronefall to secure the iPhone Game of the Year award.
During the announcement, Apple CEO Tim Cook said:
“This year’s winners reflect the creativity and excellence that define the App Store. They demonstrate how top-tier apps and games can bring meaningful and positive change to users around the world.”
In the iPad category, Detail, an AI-based video editing app, earned App of the Year, while DREDGE beat Infinity Nikki and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown to win Best iPad Game.
On Mac, Essayist, an academic writing tool, was named App of the Year. In the gaming category, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition secured the top spot, defeating Assassin’s Creed: Shadows and Neva. For Apple Arcade, WHAT THE CLASH? won Best Game.
In the Apple Vision Pro category, Explore POV received the Best App of 2025 award, while Porta Nubi was crowned Game of the Year. Strava was awarded Apple Watch App of the Year, and HBO Max won Apple TV App of the Year.
Cultural Impact Awards
Apple also recognised five apps and games for their contribution to awareness, inclusivity, and positive social impact:
