BTS Suga Launches “Min Yoon-gi Treatment Center” at Severance Hospital, Dedicated to Children with Autism

BTS member Suga (Min Yoon-gi) has officially inaugurated the Min Yoon-gi Treatment Center, a facility specially established to support children struggling with autism spectrum disorder.

The opening ceremony was held on September 30 at the hospital’s Jejunggwan building. Distinguished attendees included Yonsei University President Yoon Dong-seop, Yonsei Medical Center Director Ki-chang, Severance Hospital Director Lee Kang-young, Severance Children’s Hospital Director Kang Hoon-chul, Ahn Seok-kyun, Director of the Department of Mental Health Medicine, Professor Cheon Geun-ah (who will also head the new center), and Kim Yong-jik, Chairman of the Korea Autistic People’s Love Association, among others.

Funded by Suga’s ₩5 billion (approx. USD 3.6 million) donation, the center is equipped with state-of-the-art safety systems, specialized rooms for speech and behavioral therapy, and soundproof spaces for music and group therapy. A professional team—including pediatric psychiatrists, music therapists, speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and clinical psychologists—will provide integrated treatment for children.

Along with continuous treatment services, the center will also host events throughout the year under the MIND program, designed to help children build independence and encourage social development. Severance Hospital has further announced plans to expand and relocate the center in the future to meet growing demand and ensure long-term sustainability.

Professor Cheon Geun-ah emphasized the importance of music in therapy, stating:

“At the Min Yoon-gi Treatment Center, children are taught music not only to improve treatment outcomes but also to develop their social skills. We hope that society will see children with autism striving for independence and that this will raise greater awareness about disability.”

Suga’s involvement went far beyond financial support. In November last year, while serving as a social service worker, he met with Professor Cheon and expressed his wish to “donate musical talent.” He directly contributed to the development of the MIND program, aimed at enhancing children’s emotional well-being and social abilities. On weekends, he personally taught music classes to children—without revealing that he was a BTS member.

This ₩5 billion contribution marks the largest individual donation ever made by a Korean celebrity.

Meanwhile, BTS is preparing for a full-group comeback next year, once all members complete their mandatory military service.
