This year, Jimin received his first solo MTV VMA nomination, but he and the rest of BTS decided not to attend the glamorous award ceremony held in Elmont, New York.
Jimin’s solo track “Who” was nominated in the Best K-Pop Song category, competing with big names like Aespa, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, Stray Kids, and Rosé. The award was announced during the preshow, and the winner was Lisa, who also did not attend and shared a prerecorded acceptance speech.
Although Jimin and BTS were absent this time, many exciting updates have emerged for them. This summer, all seven members reunited after completing their mandatory military service in South Korea and celebrated a grand reunion. In August, J-Hope shared photos from their reunion in Los Angeles, including footage from the recording studio, indicating they are actively working on new music.
In July, BTS informed their fans about their upcoming plans:
“We will be releasing a new BTS album next spring, along with a world tour to meet fans around the globe. We hope you’re as excited as we are.”
Jimin’s solo album Muse, released in July 2024 during his military service, included the nominated track “Who.” Both Jimin and Jungkook were discharged in June and spoke to the media about their return.
“Thank you to the fans and reporters who came to see us,” Jimin said in an interview with Billboard. “It has been a long journey—from the pandemic to military service. Now that we’re back, we will work hard to show you everything we’ve prepared.”
He added, “Now that I’m discharged, it’s time to continue realizing the dream we started. We are preparing well and will share it with you soon.”

Reflecting on his service experience, he said, “Military life wasn’t easy, but I am grateful for the memories. Even a small kind gesture to a soldier on the street can mean a lot.”
